Campus Visit to Learning Assistance Center at City College of San Francisco

(Space is limited so conference attendees must sign up during registration)
ccsfPlease join us for a tour of the Learning Assistance Center at City College of San Francisco.

Originally founded in 1935, the college has evolved into one of the country’s largest, multicultural, multi-campus community colleges.

The college will be on Spring Break, so we will be afforded a unique opportunity to tour the
facility and sit down with Nadine Rosenthal, Chair of the Learning Assistance Department. The campus visit will allow attendees to learn about the variety of academic support services delivered in the LAC, and the college’s extensive for-credit College Success Program curriculum (that includes both traditional and online courses). The variety of opportunities and challenges related to managing a Learning Assistance Center in an urban setting as unique as San Francisco will be discussed. Participants will also learn about and visit the large Computer Lab housed within the LAC that can accommodate up to 150 students at a time.

The campus visit is free, but there will be a nominal fee of $4 per person for roundtrip transportation via BART (San Francisco’s municipal train system) to the campus.**** All participants must sign up for this visit during the online conference registration process. If you change your mind before the conference, please email the campus visit coordinator at lcooper@deltacollege.edu so your name can be removed from the online list. If you change your mind after you arrive at the conference site, please visit the conference registration desk to remove your name from the campus visit list so we may maximize the number of participants who can attend. We will be asking those who register for this event to verify their plans to attend the campus visit during onsite registration.

Many aspects of the City College of San Francisco Tour include walking so please wear comfortable shoes.

We will meet in the conference hotel lobby, leave at 3:45 pm, walk approximately five (5) blocks or 10 minutes to the Montgomery Street BART Station, and take a 10-15 minute ride to the Balboa BART Station.**** The LAC is located in the Rosenburg Library which is approximately a one block walk from the BART station.

The campus visit will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including travel between the campus and the hotel.

****There is a $4 non-refundable fee for the roundtrip BART train ticket that we ask you pay at the time of your conference registration so that we may purchase group tickets to distribute on the day of the campus visit. If after registering for this event you cannot attend, the use of the BART ticket may be transferred to someone else.
